Wikiquote is a website run by Wikimedia. It was supposed to be quotes from famous people, but the Wikipedia community wasn't interested in that, so it quickly became plagued by fanboys adding quotes from TV shows, movies, and pop culture.
History[]
Wikiquote was created around the same time as Wikibooks, in 2003. It was created because Wikipedia users couldn't stop adding quotes to famous people's pages. However, as time went on, Wikiquote became less about famous people, and just pop culture reference spam.
