Vaults are big buildings that if someone decides to blow stuff up with nuclear bombs, people hide in them. These were made as fear of nuclear tensions between China or Russia might grow and they might blow up UnAmerica. They are equipped with clean water, no radiation (supposedly), electricity for today's needs and they promise no experiments on humans (supposedly).
Vaults are actually places (other than a few) that allow Vault-Tec to study humans for science, because they are weird and don't care that someone set the world on fire. They were not made to save humanity in case someone tried to blow stuff up, they were made to frick with humans. You have to wear blue and yellow suits all the time because they hate you!

They also play old music for the fun of it because Vaults are designed like the 1950s UnAmerican Dream, and they also give you these Apple Watch things called Pip-Boys that you can't take off.

There are many vaults out in UnAmerica and they are all marked with numbers.
Vault 101[]
In this vault, they sealed it shut and never re-opened because the overseer is stupid. It is here you are born, it is here you will die. Because in Vault 101, nobody ever enters, and no one ever leaves. It gets radroaches because sometimes they open it up, contrary to their original plan.
Vault 13[]
This one had a water chip go bad. Nothing more, nothing less.
Vault 111[]
Here you get frozen Frozone style for over 200 years, your wife may or may not be killed here.
Vault 76[]
This vault was actually chill, no crazy experiment, nothing. Why? Because they said this one was crucial to rebuilding the United States of UnAmerica.
