The Subspace Emissary can easily be defined as the single most overatted mode in a Shame to ever be released. It acts as the story mode of the overrated shame Super Smash Bros. FAYUL, released in 2009. It follows the story of a group of unlikely heroes (the main characters being Mario obviously, Underwear Billy, and Dib) on their quest to save the planet from the Muffin invaders, lead by Marley the Muffin.

Plot

The Awesomespace Awesomesarry begins in a stadium floating in midair. Johnny C. and Mouser are introduced, and act as the referees of the stadium. Two contestants are seen preparing for a fight, Mario and Underwear Billy. Mario wins (obviously and unfortunately), and the sky blackens as a ship approaches from the sky. Pieces of wheat begin to form on the ground, producing enemies made of muffins.

After a fight, Johnny, Mouser, Mario, and Billy are attacked by Chris McLean, turning Johnny and Mouser into trophies in the process. Mario is punched across the world, and the Ancient Muffinster is introduced, who plants an indestructable bomb in the middle of the stadium. Billy makes a hasty retreat, and everyone still in the stadium dies while McLean collects the Johnny C. and Mouser trophies. Billy joins your team in this level.

On to level 2, we are introduced to Kenny the Shark, who is watching the fight. The Mario trophy then destroys his house. He grudgingly revives Luffy as they are attacked by more muffin henchmen.

After defeating them, The muffin minions fuse into Bruticus Maximus, After Kenny the Shark defeats him, the ship seen before is approaching the horizon, and Kenny decides to investigate while Luffy rockets himself back to his homeland. In this level, Mario and Kenny join your team.

In level 3, Billy is seen on the outskirts of the stadium, out of breath from running. Then, he is turned into a trophy by Bowser's wife, Betty, after a fight with some muffin henchmen. Betty almost collects Billy, but Courage The Cowardly Dog intervenes. Courage revives Billy and, together, they defeat Betty. Courage The Cowardly Dog joins your team.

Level 4 introduces us to a new area, the Forest. Deep in the Forest, a little green man is seen running from something. The threat is soon revealed to be Dark Studious, who knocks off the green man's mask, revealing him to be Zim. Studious is about to turn Zim into a trophy when Swan suddenly intervenes, cutting off Studious' cape. Zim and Swan fight Studios, but in the end they are both turned into trophies. Nobody joins your team, because Zim and Swan were both defeated before the level ended.

Level 5, the Ruins, introduces us to John Petrucci and Jus Oborn, both holding their signature guitars. They fight eachother, and John wins. However, the muffin ship appears once again, and the two work together to defeat the muffin henchmen and Para-Dice. Once this is finished, John and Jus attempt to make their way up to the ship.

Level 6, the Arabian desert, introduces us to Angelica Pickles, who is strolling casually through the place. Soon she is attacked by muffin henchmen from the ship, which she defeats. The Ancient Muffinster arrives again, and plants a bomb set for 20 minutes. Angelica, in terror, tries to run to the nearest safe point.

In level 7, the Desert Culdesac, we are introduced to Dib, who is using techonology to get alien transmittals, but instead he keeps receiving odd, muffin-sounding breathing. Duncan comes up behind him and wedgies him, but then they are forced to run into the desert when a giant statue of Chris McLean attacks them.

We see Mario again, who is bumped into by Duncan and Dib. Fat Robin appears, and all four of them run off to find the problem in the desert.

Meanwhile, Angelica Pickles is trapped by muffin henchmen. Mario, Duncan, Dib, and Robin descend the mountain to rescue her. After saving her, Angelica "tells" them a bomb has been planted, and they almost go to "stop" it, but Dib is turned into a trophy. Duncan tries to help, but is turned into a trophy too. The culprit reveals himself to be none other then Bad Luigi. Mario is then forced to fight two evil muffin versions of Dib and Duncan. Mario defeats them, and manages to turn Dib's Trophy back to normal, but Duncan's Trophy is taken by Bad Luigi up to the ship. Mario, Angelica, Robin, and Dib all make a pact to somehow find a way up to the ship to save Duncan. They escape the desert while it explodes. In this level, Angelica Pickles, Dib, and Fat Robin join your team.

In level 8, The Research Room, we are finally shown the inside of The Muffin Ship. The research room is a place in the ship where Muffin Henchmen use innocent victims as test subjects, tranforming them into muffin henchmen in the process. We are introduced to Koromo Ryuumonbuchi, who has been captured by the muffin henchmen. Right when she is about to be tested, however, the test machine malfunctions, and Koromo escapes. In this level, the player must control Koromo to run away from the henchmen. She is almost turned into a trophy by Dark Studious, who still has the trophies of Zim and Swan, but Koromo escapes around the hallway. Koromo Ryuumonbuchi joins your team in this level.

Level 9, The Muffin Ship Interior Part 1, introduces us to yet another new character, Harold, who is practicing kung fu on the otherside of the ship. Suddenly, Mario, Angelica, Dib and Robin burst in through the wall, startling him. Suddenly, more muffin henchmen form around them, and they team up to defeat them. The group then split up, Mario going with Robin, Angelica and Dib, while Harold goes alone.

In the next cutscene, Harold suddenly runs into a large door. He hears talking coming from the other side. Suspicious, he pries open the door, and sees Mouser and Johnny C. tied up. He rescues them, and they head out the door, before Koromo bumps into them, and they join together to defeat the muffin henchmen that are forming around them. They then split up, Koromo and Harold going to tell Mario and the others, while Johnny C. and Mouser begin to travel to the interior of the ship.

Level 10, The Muffin Ship Interior Part 2, introduces us to Para-Dice, who is dancing in the disco room of the ship. Suddenly, Mario, Angelica, Dib, Koromo and Harold appear, surrounding her. Suddenly, even more muffin henchmen form around them and they team up to defeat them. They then split up with Mario going with Robin, Koromo and Angelica, while Para-Dice goes with Dib and Harold.

In the next cutscene, Para-Dice trips on a rock. She hears a voice coming from the storage room. Suspicious, she opens the door, and sees Kenny the Shark tangled up in a web. She rescues him and the two defeat the muffin henchmen. Then, they escape.

Level 11, the fall takes place outside the ship. Everybody ( from Johnny C to Kenny the Shark ) jumps down. You can choose who to play in this level. As the level says, you fall. You must look out for things like Magnums, Angry Sun, Somebody, rockets, airships and Chuck Norris. ( He can fly, and attack you. ) Also, do nothing.

After that follows a cutscene where ( character name ) falls, and must fight Rageguy. After fighting him, he joins your team.
