Gremmie, being the first person to ever surf (circa 1700, colorized)
Surfing (sometimes called "riding the waves" by people who do it) is a sport that is basically water skateboarding. It was invented by Gremmie in 1700, when he made the first proper board and rode the waves. He also taught many other people how to surf, including Pikachu and Larry the Lobster. Gremmie is now dubbed the Patron Saint of Surfing because of this, many people still pray to him before going out at sea in fear of what could happen.
Surfer Slang[]
This is a specific subset of English used by surfers, sort of like a secret code.
- Grommet/Grom/Gremmie: An inexperienced surfer, named after Gremmie himself.
- Kook: A wannabe who doesn't have the skills.
- Hang Loose: Chill out, what DJ Hallyboo should've done, and you saw how he ended up.
- Surf's Up: Used when there's good waves. Said by Gremmie as a way to challenge others to a surfing duel (in which he'd win most of the time, because he's good at it).
- Gnarly: Cool, amazing, good, any variant of an EPIC WIN
Surferism[]
Surferism is a religion based around surfing and surfer culture that was established in the mid-1800s by a group of Gremmie's loyal followers. This religion believes in surfing as a way to communicate with the dead, wager your soul, and find peace, sort of like prayer. Surferism is also known for its philosophy of living life to the fullest with the little amount you got, and groups of surfers often forming "churches" that frequently do the sport together.
Surfer Funerals[]
When a surfer dies, their fellow disciples place their body on their board and float them out into the sea while blasting Like The Wind.
Surfer Heaven[]
This is where good surfers go when they die. Many hope that there'll be good waves there. Not much is known about it besides the sheer gnarliness of it. It is similar to Valhalla.

The Trench[]
The Trench is the surfer version of Hell, and resembles a void of dark waters and pale sand (and occasional, Backrooms-esque structures). Nightmarionne has been put in charge of it, appointed by the Saint himself.
