Super Mario 4D Land is the final sequel to the Super Mario D Land series, exclusive for the Nintendo 4SD. It wasn't made by Nintendo, but was actually made by NintenDON'T because Nintendo was too lazy to add the 4Dth dimension after the first land of the game. It takes place in that 4Dth Dimension, and Mario has to fight off against Hypergoombas and Hyperkoopas, 4th dimensional versions to Goombas and Koopas.

Powers[]

Mario keeps his punch and his Sacred Time Knob from the 2D Land and 3D Land shames respectively.

Moves[]

  • A: Jump
  • B: Jump
  • X: Spin Jump
  • Y: Run
  • L/R | ZL/ZR | CL/CR: Punch
  • Left Circle Pad: Move
  • Right Circle Pad: Camera
  • Central Circle Pad (Added in later revisions): Controls the 4Dth Dimension

Story[]

After rescuing Luigi from Bowser, in a last stitch effort to get back at you he decides to break the 4Dth wall and then let all his 4D bad guys come get you from realities you don't expect them from. He becomes Hyperbowser and then kidnaps Peach and takes her to his 4D castle. You go to toadsworth who will only prescribe you the 4Dth medication you need to beat Hyperbowser's hyperarmy if you give him 9999 coins. The game has a timer starting at 5 hours, which is all the time you're given before Hyperbowser takes over the entire time-space continuum and then grounds you for 999999999999 years in his dungeon with the creepy old man. It's kind of like Majora's Mask in the way you always reset.

This method of extruding 2D into 3D is sort of what the pill does but for 3D to 4D.

Super Mario 3D Land[]

You play in the prequel as a tutorial of how hyperspace works. The coin count starts out at -9999 because you need to first pay off Toadsworth before you get any lives. Enemies pop in out of nowhere and seem to phase in and out of existence, but that's just the 4Dth dimension for you. You can't kill them because you don't have the power yet. But there's lots of Ice Flowers you can get to stun them for a short time. You can go to the bank and deposit your coins at to save them for the next run, which you'll need to do because getting 500 coins takes like an hour and nobody has ever beaten the game in one go. Your coins never get reset back to a number less than how many you put in the bank in the last playthough, just like in Majora's Mask too.

After you find Toadsworth's house in the final 3D land (which you can get to through the pipe system) you can buy the 4D pills which turn your body 4D. The graphics get a big improvement after this point, as the 4Dth slider on the 4SD can be used now. At this point you can phase out of there and kill one of the hyperbad-guys with your power. The 2nd hyperbad-guy killed in a 3D land will always open a hole in the time-space continuum from which you can enter the first 4D land.

Also of note is the ability to hyper-frag 3D enemies by phasing into 4D and phasing back into 3D and kill them.

4D Land of the Dead[]

The whole 4D Land is made out of dead/hyperdead bad guy skeletons, set above a sea of hyperwater. Their 4D land has been cursed with both eternal life and eternal death. Goombas, Koopas, Spinies, Magikoopas, will come to attack you alongside their hyper-versions at about a 4:1 ratio, and when one of them dies another will become alive somewhere else. You get your first Hyperup in this level called the Hyperflower. It's very powerful (or I guess hyperful) but also very in that it can permanently destroy any part of the level, taking a level reload to undo its effects. If you go too far underground (like about 3 Marios down), Ghost Hands will start dragging you down to Hyperhell (separate from Hell 2D Land), increasing their strength until about 8 Marios down when you cannot escape their force. There's also some walls of reinforced steel that you can't bypass that are underground. There's also floating bone platforms in this level that function like doughnut blocks.

The final boss of this land is the Necromancer from Castle Crushers, possessed by Bowser's hypermagic.

Super 4D Land[]

You then go to the Super 4D Land, which has a bunch of villains in it that try to be heroes. Some thief attacks you and steals your powerups, so you don't get to keep your game-breaking flowers. Super Goombas have capes and can shoot lazors out of their mouths/eyes. That's the worst kind of person, someone who thinks they are good but are actually bad. Anyways, you stop by a couple of comic book stores and have to solve 4D puzzles by reading 3D books. Err, 4D books that have 3D pages. The puzzles are really boring and just serve as padding. Anyways, you gotta fight Hyperthe Joker because of course you do. After that, he joins your cause for the rest of the game in which he sometimes gives you hyperups. After that you gotta beat up Hyperbatman so that you can move on to the next world.

Candy 4D Land[]

This world is inspired by Candy Crush, Sugar Rush, and Sugary Spire. It is also incredibly derivative of all 3 of those. Anyways, you gotta eat the enemies in order to beat this land, but if you become too fat you can't go in the pipe to the next 4D land, so you gotta make sure you watch your calories.

Desert 4D Land[]

What's a Mario game without another uninspired desert world? You go through it, beat it and move on to the next.

Bowser 4D Land[]

The final land is Bowser's land. Cranky Kong from 2D Land comes back to give you an unlimited supply of Hyperflowers, so you can never get hit in this world. Of course, Bowser got help from Ultra Goombas and Ultra Koopas from the 5th dimension, and they can kill you instantly (of course). Anyways, you have to go through each floor of his castle one by one and avoid the instant deaths. You make it to the top, the ceiling opens up and you beat him up. He uses the Hyperstar and becomes Ultimate Hyperbowser, but thankfully Cranky Kong, Hyperthe Joker, Satan, and everyone from the previous shames come get you a Hyperstar of your own while they prepare a 6D pill. You have to beat him up before Kamek turns Peach's hair stands into the Time Mushroom and gives it to Bowser. Once you beat Bowser you have to fight Time Kamek, the true final boss. Your friends give you the 5D/6D pills and then you try and 6D-frag Kamek. After that, everyone returns to normal and all the 4D, 5D, and 6D stuff is destroyed leaving only 3 spacial dimensions left. The credits roll and Peach makes you a cake. She actually just stole a cake from the Candy 4D Land, but Mario doesn't know.
