Magic's no use, you're gonna have to go digital
Shirley The Medium is a green, psychic Chihuahua from The Middle of Nowhere who lives in her wagon and travels the UnWorld, giving people fortunes. Even though she frequently treks, she is most often seen in Nowhere, usually dusting off her collection of bizarre, sometimes haunted artifacts. Her wagon, nicknamed "The Shirleymobile" by a few people, seems to be non-euclidean, too, as it's WAY bigger on the inside.
Shirley is a no-nonsense type of person, er, animal, with a short temper, but is a loyal friend of Courage, a fellow Nowhereian canine. She often gets frustrated by all the monsters, freaks, creeps, and weirdos who plague the area, even if some of them are there because of her. She also gets annoyed at Di Lung, the local idiot of Nowhere who once tried replacing "that stupid dog" with a robot. Shirley soon discovered that the "robot" was actually just Di Lung in a fursuit, trying to evoke squatter's rights in the Bagges' house.
Shirley also has the blessing of being the first animal member of the Psychonauts, mostly because she can speak fluent English (which most creatures can't do). She was hired when Sasha Nein ended up in The Middle of Nowhere and was nearly beaten to death with a slab by King Ramses. She was initially going to join him because she thought it was Di Lung, but upon realizing it wasn't, she got him to stop and saved Sasha's life.
Nowadays, she finds herself often dealing with Velvet Vic, a maniacal, undead pianist who has tried to kill her numerous times. It gets annoying real quick, I'll tell you that. His girlfriend is even worse.
Trivia[]
- Shirley is kin to Ren, and has some of his violent tendencies, albeit not as severe.
- Despite the "Medium" part of her name, Shirley cannot talk to the dead (unless you count Velvet Vic's horrific true self as a "ghost").
- The Shirleymobile was once carjacked by Mud and Larry Lawson. Why? Because why not.
