A list of designs of segmented displays
Segmented displays are something made by the Dig-Its some time ago, which are used to display numbers (and sometimes letters) on calculators and stuff. Before then, all you had were microwaves that printed receipts, and scribes who would do your math for you. (Hey I could use that!)
Types of Segmented Displays[]
- 7-segment, which is the most common of the segmented displays. It cannot display K, M, Q, V, W, X, and Z: unless you add more segments. Well, if you're making the segments look like the actual letters that is. You see, there's 127 states a 7 segmented display can be in, which is exactly the same amount as possible ASCII characters, meaning you can map them 1:1. 8 is known to hog all 7 segments in revenge to being dragged into the cannibal incident.
- 14-segment displays, which have a few more segments so that they can display K, M, Q, V, W, X and Z.
- 4-segment displays, which are used by guys who can't understand numbers (and therefore are very stupid).
- ETC
