It's eternity in there.
The Respawn Machine is a modified teleporter The Engineer built after he discovered teleportation for the 3rd time. Basically, it's just like a teleporter but very very delayed. It's used to bring guys back from the dead in TF2 by teleporting their souls from Heaven/Hell to the UnWorld. Louie of course hates the Respawn Machine because it often snatches people whose souls he was going to cook and eat. The Respawn Machine was the only machine not to be included in the Wa-Machine V3 because of how dangerous it is.
Benefits of the Respawn Machine[]
Your memories retained after death, and you will never die again. Of course, if you're like Hohenheim of Light and have multiple souls inside you, the machine won't work, because it can only do 1 soul per body.
How to use[]
Basically, you just step inside, and step out. The machine handles the rest. When you die, it recreates your body from what it recorded when you went in, and puts in your memories and stuff from the last moment you were alive. But you have to do tests to prove yourself strong enough to be respawned because of the high likelyhood of complications.
Complications of the Respawn Machine[]
You will remember experiencing death. This is a traumatic experience which might make people commit suicide, which is why there's a shame inside the Respawn Machine that tests you on if you're strong enough to live after death. Of course, some people get stuck in this shame like some sort of amazing digital circus. When that happens, the patient is told they didn't make it and endured years of constant respawn agony. Usually they are fine after this and no harm is done. Anyways, you can still come back after death with schizophrenia, PTSD, or other severe psychological trauma even if you do pass. This is what happened to Emesis Blue after Medic was respawned too many times. Also, Madcap committed suicide after too many respawns, which is the real reason why he was removed from TF2. There's the rare chance that you come back while still alive, and this usually induces psychosis in the old body's mind, which is what started happening to Peppino after a slow reconstruction turned his old body into Pizzano. Also, there's a chance it just forgets what body to put you in, and gives you the wrong one.
