Some cat thought it was idea to eat this scone, and since it didn't die they made it a tradition to eat pancake batter scones, named after both pancake batter and stones which Luigi did not make.
The name pancake batter scones was too much of a mouthful for the Ancient Egyptians, so they just called them pancakes for simplicity. The name pancake is still being used OVER 9000 years later by @everyone. It is written they're not called pancakes in other languages, but Pannenkoek2012 is wrong and stupid.
