Onion Rings are the main currency of the Sonic Islands as well as the rest of the UnWorld. They’re named so due to being onions… in rings (ZOMG!!!!!!!).
Onion Rings were first introduced to the Sonic Islands to complement Chili Dogs, then the actual currency of the islands. Onion Rings eventually took precedence over the Chili Dogs in relevance as they were easier to produce and were easily exchangeable (and Chili Dogs were too valuable to be given away). This meant that Chili Dogs were relegated to a decimal-like currency on par with cents in the real world.
How They’re Made
A batch of Onion Rings are first made when they start growing out of the ground, after a farmer starts screaming at them to grow. These are then refined and lathered with a special liquid cream so as to differentiate from counterfeit Onion Rings sourced from outer space.
These hefty batches of onions are then sliced into minuscule pieces, and then stored in plastic bags which are also stored in a plastic can of chicken batter. These are then sent off to specialized facilities dubbed as the “Fast And Stupid Tentacle Fucks who suck at Obtaining Offers for Dinguses”; also known as F.A.S.T.F.O.O.D.
It is in these facilities that the plastic cans of batter are cracked open, individually inspected, and then slam dunked back into the batter, breaded with Sonic’s skin flakes, and then fried in a fryer. They’re then stamped so as to verify authenticity, and then distributed by the local homeless man named Marcus sitting outside of a KFC who has a mysterious trench-coat of items, who might be extremely dangerous or quite harmless…
Or they’re just summoned. Immediately.
Trivia
- The bigger the Onion Ring, the more valuable it is.
- They do not mould in the UnSonicverse, however if you bring them outside they will rapidly deteriorate.
- If you get hit, you will drop your Onion Rings. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles takes this joke to the extreme as they will uncontrollably throw away all their onion rings if someone just sneezes on them.
