OMORI the Shame is a JRPG SHAME released in 2020 by OMORAT + SOME OTHER LOSERS. IT documents the suite life of OMORI and SUNNY as they battle with DEPRESSION, as well as TELLING FICTION APART FROM REALITY. All the proper nouns and items in this SHAME are capitalized for some reason, like a weird ripoff of POKéMON. Actually, that's really annoying so I'll stop.
Plot[]
Prologue[]

WHITE SPACE
The camera pans to OMORI in WHITE SPACE. He's got a laptop, a tapestry, a tissue box, and a sketchbook. You have to touch the PC to move forward. Unfortunately, touching it breaks all the keys so you gotta fix it and find new keys. Then you go grab a sharp knife and then go to NEIGHBOR'S ROOM where you meet AUBREY, KEL and HERO. You're given the option to stab your friends, and if you do the shame restarts to before you kill them. After you force them to join a gang, you go to the VAST FOREST where you meet BASIL and your sister MARI. MARI has an idea to go play Mario Tag, so that's what you do. Unfortunately, A USELESS CHARACTER shows up and kidnaps BASIL, so you gotta beat him up and save him. After that happens you go to BASIL'S HOUSE to go make soup because everybody's hungry. Unfortunately before that happens KEL and AUBREY break his photo book, and you gotta fix it. BASIL is then sent to hell because one of the pictures is a cognitohazard. You stab yourself to leave this world, and return to the real one.

Fight on the stairs
In the real world, you wake up as the other protagonist of the shame: SUNNY. Or you can name him deez. It doesn't matter. You're up because you're very hungry, nut unfortunately the stairs are infinite because of your fear, and you have to battle a hallucination on them called JACK. After you've done that you can finally microwave a moldy normal steak made by your mom and eat it. But then you have to go to the bathroom and throw it up because you actually hate steak because you're secretly Hindu, but you were forced to eat it because the grass is outdoors and grass is SCARY! Also because your house is being sold in 3 days and you can't eat the drywall. You try to sleep but then somebody shows up at the door. Don't answer it or else you will DIE. You get visited by The Ebin Cade of Restful Sleeps, and then sleep.
CAPT. SPACEBOY'S BEDROOM
TUBULAR TRASH ZONE
Once you're back in NEIGHBOR'S ROOM, your friends tell you how BASIL went missing, so you gotta find him. So you search the VAST FOREST. He's not in the vast forest; the forest is too vast for BASIL. KEL gets the idea that BASIL is not on Earth, and that they need to broaden their horizons beyond the horizon to the entire universe. HERO and AUBREY tell him he's a stupid piece of crap, so he backpedals and says he might be in OTHERWORLD. To get there you have to get over your fear of heights and climb a ladder that's like a mile high. But once you're there you don't find him in the fields; you don't find him in the space caves; you don't find him in the town; you don't find him outside the town or by the lake; you don't find him anywhere. You get so bored that you do a sidequest for the SPACE PIRATES. Not the cool ones from Metroid Prime but the ones lead by CAPTAIN SPACEBOY. Just like SUNNY, he's sleeping his depression away because of his breakup. His men tell you to go to the TUBULAR TRASH ZONE to find his mixtape, not the Queen's mixtape. Remember that OMORI the Shame is not as epic as other shames. Anyways, you rummage through there for hours, find some keys, find some trash, all until another dude who is also named A USELESS CHARACTER shows up. She finds and steals the mixtape, and then causes the shame almost crash. You kill the process and then steal the mixtape back from her, and after you play it for CAPTAIN SPACEBOY to wake him up inside, he gets really mad and fights you. I forgot to mention this, but the shame has a ripoff Pokémon system of emotions: Happy beats mad, mad beats sad, and sad beats happy. Anyways, you beat him up, ask him where BASIL is, he says "I don't know", and then you go to the spooky barn house to get spooked by SOMETHING after picking stealing his key. You have to stab yourself again to wake up.
When you wake up, KEL is knocking at the door. From this point forth, the shame splits into two routes: the true route and the faker route. He's kind of like the G-Man at the end of Full-Life except in the first act of the shame.
Faker Route[]
PYREFLY FOREST
In the faker route, you go back to sleep like nothing happened, like KEL was a faker. But before you go back to sleep you have to sweep sweep sweep, before passing out from exhaustion. Once you wake up, you experience a schizophrenic hallucination where the house is infested with too many spiders, so you grab the vacuum cleaner and stuck them all up, including THE SPIDER QUEEN. Once you make it to your bed and are protected by your plushies, you sleep again and return to HEADSPACE. Meeting with your friends again, AUBREY suggests you go search another forest (the PYREFLY FOREST) in the quest to find BASIL. Unfortunately, you and HERO are both afraid of spiders, but you can go in since you can forget your fears in seconds (like you didn't totally just have an episode half an hour ago). Just like with space, you still don't find BASIL, but you do find lots of spiders. Remember to stock up on antidotes because you're gonna get poisoned a lot. Eventually, your escapades lead you into a dark cave with a castle in it. That is, the shameshow part of SWEETHEART'S CASTLE. Also, there are a bunch of Strollin' Stu ripoffs inside the cave + castle. They were in the space caves too, but here they became simps. SWEETHEART is there, and she's looking for a hot stud. After falling in love with HERO, she sends takes him away from you and sends you to the monster room (aka dungeon). You do puzzles to escape. You socially engineer one of the guards to let you into the keep, to which you make your way to the throne room and save HERO from his giant bird cage before the wedding starts. SWEETHEART shows up and then you fight her with sadness. After winning, CAPTAIN SPACEBOY shows up again, and the real wedding begins in the garden. A sinkhole appears, and you jump inside. Your friends also jump inside because of the bandwagon fallacy. You appear all alone in A DARK DUSTY LIBRARBY, with weird books with the names replaced with squares. Anyways, you have to read all of them, and once you do you watch a GIF of BASIL looking behind him and being spooked by SOMETHING, similar to the True Route.

HUMPHREY
Once you wake up, you do the dishes, and then have a bath because you smell like the average league player. You sleep in the bathtub and have a dream of where the house is being flooded. You find out it's THE SQUID KING in the kitchen is trying to recreate the second episode of The UnAmazing World of Gumball, and stab and kill him in the foyer before you drown. You wake up drowning in real life, and unconcerned about dry drowning, you go back to sleep (in your bed this time). Inside your dream this time, you go to NEIGHBOR'S ROOM again and... nobody. You go to the park and... nobody. You can't find your friends anywhere for at the beach, where KEL is. He tells you everyone's now independent contractors at THE LAST RESORT, and that you need to go free them from working to go find BASIL. THE LAST RESORT being an underwater casino and bar. To get there, you have to learn HM03: Surf. There's a cute cutscene where KEL teaches you how to swim in the shallow waters before learning HM07: Dive. Once you dive into the water, you find a highway and take a cab to THE LAST RESORT. Inside are alligators who want to kill you, so you fight them until you reach MR. JAWSUM's desk, the casino owner. You fight him to free AUBREY and HERO from their contracts, and carry forth to the searching the rest of the ocean for BASIL.

Inside the rest of the ocean is just squids, squids, and more squids, but you go to the other side of the infinite highway because that way was blocked off before and now you can go there. If you go off the beaten path, you can find SPACE BOYFRIEND singing at a bar & grill alone, because SWEETHEART broke up with him again. Anyways, you go deep, deep, yet deeper into the ocean, until you find a small whale in a cave named HUMPHREY. It's unclear whether there's water in the underwater cave like Goo Lagoon, or if it's just an air pocket. Either way, you ask him if he's seen BASIL, and tell him he BASIL wears flower crowns. He tells you he ate him, and that you must go inside to save him, but this turns out to be a trap, because HUMPHREY's caretakers (who live inside him) haven't been feeding him and he wanted to eat you all along, like some messed up version of Bowser. Funnily enough, there was a flower crown inside HUMPHREY, and what's even funnier is that your party forgot about BASIL. Once you beat him he spits out the last key you need for your computer. If you haven't gotten the other keys yet, you have to go search all of HEADSPACE to go find them. Once you do find them, you're shown you computer and the password: "WELCOME TO BLACK SPACE". You can't go to BLACK SPACE yet, because you have to go to BASIL's decaying house, where you can fall into the sinkhole in the floor (Remember like in SWEETHEART'S CASTLE?) and then go to BLACK SPACE from there. BLACK SPACE is pretty much a ripoff of Yume Nikki. It's a hub with a bunch of doors, and you need the key from one room to go into the next room. Most the rooms are really traumatic, usually having BASIL mutilated in some way. You also find an antagonizing black BASIL called STRANGER in them sometimes. In the final room you go to a monochrome church where you find dream-BASIL, where he's being eaten by a SOMETHING. You free him from the SOMETHING but then STRANGER shows up, who makes the SOMETHING attack you. You become SUNNY for the fight, and then lose it. When you come to your senses, you're in RED SPACE and OMORI kills you from his hand throne. You become OMORI after that and save BASIL from the church, and into NEIGHBOR'S BEDROOM where you sleep.
One of the bad endings you can get.
You wake up in reality again, and now SOMETHING is watching you from the doorways. You go sort through your belongings. After that, there's this creepy SOMETHING vignette that covers the screen, the creepy NEIGHBOR'S ROOM theme is playing, and you can also stab yourself if you have the knife. If you stab yourself, the shame ends. If you go back to sleep, the shame continues. A GIF plays of SUNNY having a mental breakdown, surrounded by SOMETHING eyes, before OMORI pulls him out and hugs him, before SUNNY disintegrates into dust. You can pretty much do anything at this point as OMORI, as the content from here on out the post-shame with BASIL back. Well, except battle with HERO. You gotta save him from MR. JAWSUM again, but after that you can do more sidequests. Below is a list of optional sidequests you can do now:
- Go to ORANGE OASIS if you haven't already.
- Go to RAIN TOWN if you haven't already.
- Go to GHOST PARTY if you haven't already.
- Go to SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN and save CAPT. SPACEBOY from his own depression.
- Collect all the keys for your keyboard so you can go to BLACK SPACE again.
- Feed HUMPHREY to go inside him again, and also do the BOSS RUSH with BASIL.
- Defeat JACK, THE SPIDER QUEEN, THE SQUID KING in the LOST LIBRARBY.
After you're done, you end the shame by going back to the real world and getting in the car. Of course with elements of horror like SOMETHING always following you, and the people in your house looking like STRANGER, and are even able to stab yourself in front of them without them caring. You can hear police sirens during the credits.
True Route[]
Fight with AUBREY
In the true route, you answer the door like if it were Noise and the phone (can't explain 'til you're all alone). You go touch grass for the first time in forever. Unfortunately KEL forces you to go do things, things like go to the city and play painball. Well, not so much a city as it is a strip mall. On the way there, you two the TERF group known as THE HOOLIGANS (lead by your old friend AUBREY) is beating up BASIL. You take your knife and go lacerate them with their nail bats and nail guns and stuff to save BASIL. AUBREY gets a scar on her face like Sniper TF2 from your stab, but still stole BASIL'S PHOTO ALBUM. The knife stuff was way too extreme for KEL so he takes away your knife, thus you're defenseless from this point onwards. You then try to find AUBREY to get back the photo album. You go around town asking people where she is, including her friends, until A USELESS CHARACTER tells you she goes to church. You confront her there and cause a scene, revealing MARI has been dead this entire time. She runs off and you're asked to leave. You follow her to her house and find the photo album in the trash. You inspect it and some pictures are missing. You return the thing to BASIL and he thanks you by inviting you over for DINNER for you epicness, but once he hears from KEL that you're moving, he goes to the bathroom to cry. You join him in crying, but then leave him to be jumpscared by SOMETHING, losing his P-Rank instantly. There's a "blink and you'll miss it moment" in one of the rooms where you can find BASIL's bedridden grandma.

You go home and then sleep. For the sake of not re-explaining things, you basically have the same dream as the PYREFLY FOREST one on the Faker Route, except AUBREY is now a bitch, and so are some of the guys at the VAST FOREST park. Anyways, after you wake up, KEL is at the door again, and wants you to come out. Now you could ignore him and go back to sleep, but you'll miss out on what happens that day. Choosing to go outside with KEL, he will take you to get stuff because HERO is coming to town. So you go to the grocery store and get some bread, as well as a cookbook as a late Christmas gift. You also go to GENO'S PIZZA to pick up a hero for HERO too. Once you do that you go to KEL's house, set the stuff on the counter, and then you go his room where he shows you all his shames and comic books. But then BASIL'S CARETAKER shows up at the door and you gotta find BASIL, because BASIL is missing in this world too now. You make it to the park, then the lake, and see that THE HOOLIGANS are bullying BASIL there. You fight THE HOOLIGANS again but this time you lose, but then KEL runs his mouth about how "MARI wouldn't have wanted this". This causes AUBREY to have anger issues and push BASIL into the lake. KEL says "What the fuck AUBREY?", and then you jump in to save him. You remember you can't swim and then almost drown. While you are drowning, you have a vision of your flooded house, with MARI walking down the stairs. You follow her, but then it turns out she was an illusion made by THE SQUID KING. To beat him you have to calm down. After calming down enough, you see a GIF of MARI saving you from drowning, but then it turns out it was actually HERO saving you. Anyways, you and KEL and HERO bring BASIL back to his house, and return to KEL and HERO's house for a welcome home party. You eat beef stew in a big celebration. After that you go get flowers for MARI's grave, and then return to your home. KEL and HERO follow you inside, and set up a pillow fort outside your bed. They do this without your parents permission, or their parents permission.

An Underwater Adventure

Anyways, you go to sleep, and experience an underwater adventure. Excluding the obvious real world influences creeping in, the differences between this one and the Faker Route is that you find MARI instead of KEL by the beach, and she becomes black and white (like OMORI) and disappears after you learn to dive. Spooky. The BLACK SPACE also ends differently: At the church when saving BASIL from the SOMETHING, you go into the SOMETHING and emerge in RED SPACE, where BASIL gets dragged away by scary hands. You stab and kill BASIL, and after that walk up a staircase onto a hand throne.
You wake up in the middle of the night to MARI playing the piano, HERO comes in and she disappears (because she's a ghost), and you go back to sleep. (You can also at this point get the knife back because it's on your counter.) After you wake up, you go check up on AUBREY because of what happened yesterday. The door is unlocked and you barge in. You see she has the missing pictures from BASIL'S PHOTO ALBUM, and after making up you go to BASIL'S HOUSE. Unfortunately his grandma is in the hospital, and isn't there, but his photo album is. You complete the book, and then go to your treehouse to kill time, and then truly complete the photo album because you found another picture. You can immediately go to BASIL'S HOUSE at this point, or can go finish up all the sidequests. Once you return to BASIL'S HOUSE, it turns out he's there but he locked himself in his room. You all try to make him come out, but fail, so you all have a sleepover until he does. You go to sleep, and then experience a GIF of where BASIL is being attacked by the SOMETHING vignette. You wake up on the floor of WHITE SPACE but as SUNNY, and after you go break the light bulb. Of course, this makes the room turn black, and you fight SOMETHING, which turns into the fear monsters, and finally a hanged MARI. Surprisingly, you can beat them all and win. After this, you enter the pearly gates of heaven where you find a photo of a tree. After picking it up, the gate opens. You do this for another gate, with another tree photo, and on the other side is the dream-BASIL. He gives you a blank photo album of which you have to use to find out "the truth". You go to a messed up version of your house to go find photos of a tragedy, with your face slowly tearing off. You go to BLACK SPACE to find more tragic photos. You go to the pearly gates of heaven again but they're now the chromatic fences of hell. You assemble all the photos together, and they show that on the day of their musical recital: SUNNY killed MARI by pushing her down the stairs, and him and BASIL framing it as a suicide.
Final boss fight of the True Route
After you wake up (and it's still night), you go to BASIL'S ROOM, now unlocked. Or you can go back to your house and experience the fake route's ending. But BASIL seems to be being eaten by a SOMETHING, and you're forced to fight him. You punch him, he punches you, you punch him back, and then he stabs your right eye out with garden sheers. After you pass out, experience one last dream. This dream of course containing every moment from BASIL'S PHOTO ALBUM as SUNNY experienced it, with MARI guiding him along the way. After you do that, you go to a small concert hall where you play the title theme on your violin. You collapse and return to WHITE SPACE where OMORI is pissed. He fights you and you lose, because you've been leveling OMORI up this whole shame. You get different endings if you choose to continue or give up.
Fake Ending[]
In the fake ending, you choose to continue and then beat OMORI after experiencing a GIF of MARI's life. OMORI collapses in your arms and is Thanos-snapped. When you wake up, you're in the hospital and go follow the visions to BASIL's room. In there, you're shown another GIF, one where SUNNY tells everyone he killed MARI, before the credits roll.
True Ending[]
In the true ending, you give up, get absorbed into OMORI, and then jump off the hospital balcony. The credits roll with SUNNY plummeting down the endless hospital.
Ratings[]
- The ESRB, PEGI, CERO, gave this shame 17/18+ ratings for this shame because of all the suicide stuff.
- Wario Ratings rated it R because this shame is REPULSIVE!
- Biased Ratings said "That's stupid", thus rated it as such.
Reception[]
Not many people actually liked the shame because of how boring it is, and because how quirky of an EarthBound-inspired RPG it is. It's currently in the process of being forgotten, forgotten like how SUNNY almost forgot MARI was dead. here's some reviews of this games
