Leprechauns (Leprehominus midorii) are weird short people from Ireland who are obsessed with rainbows and tend to have a pot of gold filled with, wait, chocolate coins? What a fraud! I thought I was getting rich!
Leprechauns are found primarily in the forests of Ireland, usually having a grand ol' time with their cousins, the elves. They often get jiggy with it out in the forests, which tends to keep the animals awake. This is why there is a curfew in Ireland, because they get a little quirky at night. This is ALSO why there aren't any members of the Snake Family in Ireland.

Leprechauns in their natural state are very short, much shorter than regular humans due to a lack of a growth hormone. However, during a brief stint in the -200th century, they were synthesize their own growth hormones off of drinking milk, as proven by fossil records. It is believed they became lactose intolerant after a cosmic ray hit every leprechaun at once, and ~3,000 years later they stopped drinking milk as well as diminished. It is unknown when the gene that allowed lactose to convert into rBST was later lost.
