Lean, also called Purple Drank among other names, is a purple, addictive substance invented by Chris McLean which is used inside of the Mean Lean Machine, in order to create lean-guys. It's basically a mixture of Cough Syrup and Soda. For some reason, the Cough Syrup makes the drink more addictive than ketamine. Mr. Krabs now regularly overdoses on Lean nowadays, not Ketamine anymore. This is how Lean-Mr. Krabs spawned into existence.
Other people, notably The Amazing Bulk and Turner enjoy consuming large amounts of lean upon first taste, which is why and how they became purple. The Man Behind The Slaughter is one of the most renowned lean enjoyers. The more recognizable lean enjoyers include those who are lean-guys themselves, who live on nothing else but lean. Purple guys have literal bloodstreams made out of lean.
Dumping grounds for lean are abundant and frequent in a lot of places, one of which is the Teletubby Land Acid Lake, a dumping ground for Lean-Wario's lean, or this page, which had so much lean poured on it that it stained the letters purple.
