Grunts (Lemureus silvestris sapiens) are a genderless, human-like species that come from Nevada. Despite being genderless, all grunts are referred to as male, except for White Hank, who is referred to as female. Most grunts work for either the UnPolice or the Hank Gang.
Jesus Christ is not a Grunt, but he is able to turn into one. Sonic the Hedgehog and a random Grunt were fused inside the Fusion-Machine 9000 at one point, which created a Grunt-Hedgehog hybrid named Sonic the Grunt, but this transformation was temporary, since the two guys were unfused by Tails.
All Grunts start off as neutral, but this can change over time. However, most Grunts end up becoming violent, which explains why everybody fights each other to the death in Nevada.
They do lotsa Grunt work, because that's what they're designed to do. Jeff Bogos likes to put lotsa them in his Amazon Slave Factories™.
