Dry Yoshi is a species (not an individual) of Yoshi that can be found in the volcano forests of the Mushroom Kingdom, and is sold across the UnWorld in the exotic pet trade.

Abilities[]

Dry Yoshi maintains most of Yoshi's abilities, still having his iconic flutter-kick and immunity to spikes and buzzsaws. He does, however, lose his tongue ability, and instead spews bones out of his mouth. He is also immune to fireballs, lava fountains, and lava bubbles. (but not standard lava).

If hit by an enemy, instead of forcing Mario to dismount and running in a panic, he bursts into a pile of bones not dissimilar to Dry Bones. Whenever Dry Yoshi is hit Mario is hit by his burst of bones as well. This makes taking damage while riding Dry Yoshi riskier than riding a standard Yoshi.

Whenever in proximity to other 'Dry' enemies (Dry Bones, Dry Goomba, Sans, Dry Pirahna Plant, etc), they flash their eyes red and cause them to crumble into a pile of bones. In the Super Mario Shames, Dry Yoshi is only available in the post-game, making this potentially overpowered ability balanced.

Dry Yoshis As Pets[]

Temperament[]

Dry Yoshi can only be compared to an adorable zombie dog. Loyal past it's end, it will follow its rider to the ends of the Earth, shambling along no matter how many bones it may dislocate on the way. In the wild they're nocturnal, but when domesticated they can adjust to a more day-oriented lifestyle. As pack animals, or as undead creatures more accurately horde animals, they are highly social and require love and attention from their riders. Don't let the way they sleep startle you, when resting they crumble into a pile of bones, but don't worry they're not dead. Er- not not undead? Not re-dead? Oh forget it, they're fine that's the long and short of it.

Care[]

They're pretty vocal for skeletons, making rattling noises with their bones and strange vocalizations similar to Dry Bones. They're not very high energy, but still should be given walks at night, and freedom to stalk the backyard and crawl up walls and ceilings. They don't require feeding, but require regular oiling of the joints so they don't stiffen up. They're intelligent enough to enjoy horror movies, and watching them with your Dry Yoshi is a great way to keep them entertained.
