Mario, preforming the Backwards Long Jump.

An example of a Backwards Long Jump (Ignore the watermark).

The Backwards Long Jump (Also known as the BLJ for short) is a unique move that gives the user the ability to phase through objects, most notably doors. It is a trick that Mario discovered in Super Mario 64, and is in a lot of ways the counterpart to Bowser's Koopabackdashwaveslide Hoverwalkmoonland. Aside from it's usefulness to phase through objects, it causes the user of the trick to go extremely fast, probably even faster than using Run like hell (NOT RUN LIKE PEPPINO, however), but the trick usually only lasts for a short amount of Time.

So, how did we find out about this trick? Well, one day, Mario was exploring Princess Peach's Castle as one usually does, and discovered an infinite stairwell at the top of her castle. Wanting to know what was inside, Mario tried to climb the stairs, but since the stairs were infinite, Mario couldn't get anywhere as one may predict. So, he decided to just try and exercise on the stairs instead... for some reason. I dunno, I got this story from my friend's cousin's ex-boyfriend! That's when Mario discovered that if he long jumped backwards on the stairs, he would get an incredible amount of speed. The speed was so great that Mario was able to reach the end of the stairs and discover what was at the top of the stairwell. That stinky turtle kidnapped the Princess again, and hid himself up there! Of course, Mario defeated Bowser and rescued Peach again.

How to Preform the Trick[]

Now that you know some history behind the Backwards Long Jump, I bet you really want to use it now. Well, luckily for ya, I got a tutorial right below!

  1. Find a set of stairs and stand behind it. The trick can ONLY be preformed on stairs, for some reason.
  2. Begin long jumping into the stairs.
  3. Spam long jumping into the stairs like crazy.
  4. If you're lucky, then you'll be able to do a successful Backwards Long Jump!
