BASIL is a poorly written, queerbaity, "uwu", overly emotional piece of shit character from the hit or miss shame OMORI. "You got a boyfriend, I bet he doesn't kiss ya." But people actually ship him with SUNNY as if they're secretly boyfriends. He even dresses the same as SUNNY. The shame's weird developer OMORAT most likely planned this.
Anyways, what do you do with a drunken sailor? Hell if I know, but in OMORI you gotta save BASIL, because BASIL is in need of saving, from himself. In The Battle of Damsels in Distress, BASIL is ranked dead last just after Bowser, and is currently ranked as the 5th worst JRPG character.

BASIL does gardening, floriography, and photography. All one-dimensional stereotypes typical of an author's first second femboy, of course. Gotta have a justification for a flower pin in your guy's hair! Yeah but he did have a somewhat interesting journal/photobook hybrid until he lent it to SUNNY, who ruined it, he took the blame, now AUBREY holds him forever accountable for it. This is the only believable aspect about his character, well, that was until it got taken to the x-treme. Later on in the shame if you get the bad ending, he commits suicide. Why? It's to cover for SUNNY killing his sister, as he's the only other person to know about it, being that he was there and also staged it as a suicide. But what about the autopsy? Did anyone even verify the cause of death? As you can see, BASIL doesn't make sense. Neither does the shame he comes from.
Floriography, while sounding like the study of flowers, actually just means flower graphs, or flower letters. It means "language of the flowers". Basilly, it's just the florist version of horrorscopes. Actually, BASIL's meanings he uses don't align with floriography. When talking about roses to HERO he describes yellow roses as being "friendship" but in both western and eastern floriography they represent jealousy.
BASIL's friends were SUNNY, AUBREY, KEL, HERO, and MARI. SUNNY and HERO became depressed shut-ins, KEL became super happy, and you already know why he's not friends with AUBREY or MARI.
He didn't get any new friends after they all abandoned him, because he's just that socially awkward. Instead, he pretends that his plants are his friends. He even named them after his friends. One of his plants, Audrey II, became smart enough to talk to, however it ran like hell once BASIL started venting to it about all his problems. He tried raising other venus flytraps like Piranha Plants, Petey Piranha, and even Chomper, however they don't want to hear about a kid bitch about First World problems and always run away, leaving to BASIL being more depressed.
Eventually AUBREY, KEL and HERO came back to him to be his friends again, that was until OMORI killed SUNNY and told everyone he hung MARI. Then they stopped being his friends. BASIL was a lot older at this point, 17, and wanted a girlfriend instead of a friend, thus he made his own. With the power of GMOs, he gave rise to Kanna, who immediately left him. His parents returned from Asgore's flower garden, and after hearing all the shit he had to go through in the last 4 years decided and took him on a trip to Didneyland. When they came back, Asgore was waiting. He heard that BASIL was sad and bad, and liked flowers. He was also there to yell at Sans and Komaeda for dancing all over his flowers. BASIL and Asgore both have flowers instead of friends, thus bonded very well. Asgore currently has custody over BASIL because Sans and Komaeda were such bad parents. Also, BASIL is preparing for The Roaring. Sadly he would be put in a wheelchair after Hidan showed up and pushed him down a flight of stairs XDDDD
